UBC, as a publicly-funded entity, is bound by internal and external regulatory frameworks. To be compliant, purchases of goods and services in excess of $75,000 (CAD) before taxes will typically be publicly posted in a competitive procurement process.
There are two (2) methods for procuring goods and services greater than $75,000 (CAD) and construction services greater than $200,000 (CAD):
- Through a Competitive Procurement Process. Competitive procurement ensures that the procurement of goods, services, and construction works is fair, open, public, and competitive. Competitive procurement factor in proponents’ expertise, technical capabilities, services, work methodology and financial submissions in order to obtain the best solution, at the best price, within our deadlines. This includes:
- Information gathering activities;
- Solicitation activities; and
- Prequalified suppliers.
- Through a Non-Competitive Process such as Direct Awards.
If your budget should be spent by the end of the fiscal year (March 31), please submit your requisitions prior to December 10.
Get started by submitting a purchasing requisition in Workday. Once your requisition is received by Procurement, a Procurement Officer will contact you within two (2) days to acknowledge receipt and set up a time to meet with you to discuss your requirements.
Should you have any questions about your purchase or the process, please contact your designated Procurement Officer.
