Ernesto Castano joins UBC’s Financial Operations group as the Associate Director, Procurement

We are pleased to welcome Ernesto Castano to UBC’s Financial Operations group as the Associate Director, Procurement, effective June 1, 2022.

Reporting to Shelly Morrison, Senior Director, Finance Services & Strategic Procurement, Ernesto will play a vital role in leading the Procurement function to support our community in meeting their needs through the procurement and competitive bidding processes, leveraging Workday and Planon. The Procurement Sourcing and Procurement Services teams will report to Ernesto in this new role. 

Ernesto comes to us with over 12 years of senior leadership experience, with six years as a senior leader in Procurement and Sourcing and over 12 years of experience in customer management. Ernesto is joining us from Creation Technologies where he held the role of Director, Global Corporate Supply Chain, leading a global purchasing team of 50 procurement professionals across Canada, China, and Mexico. Ernesto holds a Master's degree in Business Administration from EGADE Business School, Tec de Monterrey (ITESM), and a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical and Administration Engineering, Tec de Monterrey (ITESM).
