Welcome to the Indigenous Business Directory of UBC, a curated list of suppliers committed to supporting the objectives outlined in the Indigenous Strategic Plan of UBC. These businesses are identified as majority-owned/controlled (51% or more) by Indigenous peoples.
The Indigenous Business Directory of UBC was developed in response to community feedback requesting support in locating and identifying Indigenous businesses to consider when making purchasing decisions. The directory is a centralized resource to empower university faculty and staff to identify businesses that align with their procurement needs, and foster proactive engagement with the Indigenous business community.
The directory is intended to increase supplier opportunities for Indigenous businesses and improve inclusion of Indigenous suppliers in upcoming work at UBC. It will help to streamline and enhance the business engagement of UBC with Indigenous-owned enterprises, and promote economic empowerment, encourage the preservation of unique cultures, foster sustainable practices, and cultivate a richer, more inclusive marketplace. UBC strongly encourages faculty and staff to engage with Indigenous businesses for your procurement needs.
The Office of Indigenous Strategic Initiatives and the CTLT Indigenous Initiatives team are aware and supportive of this initiative. The curated list of vendors are based on lists published in the Indigenous Services Canada Indigenous Business Directory and BC Indigenous Business Listings, and business certifications and memberships with certifying organizations such as Canadian Council for Aboriginal Business (CCAB) and Canadian Aboriginal and Minority Supplier Council. UBC continues to build on connections with the Indigenous community and hold gratitude for the engagement, feedback and guidance throughout this process.

Guidelines for utilizing the directory
It is important for transparency to acknowledge that the listed suppliers have not undergone UBC’s prequalification process for quality assessment. The directory is a living document, updated quarterly, and is a first step for UBC to strive to expand and enhance our network with Indigenous businesses.
