Making purchases for your lab or office? Consult the online Sustainable Purchasing Guide before you buy.

Did you know UBC purchased 37 million sheets of paper in 2016? If you were to stack that paper, it would be 71 times the height of the UBC Clock Tower.

Together, staff and faculty members make thousands of purchases for goods and services that have economic, social and environmental impacts. By reducing, reusing and purchasing sustainably, we can conserve resources, reduce our carbon offset costs, and help achieve UBC's Zero Waste Action Plan targets and 20-Year Sustainability Strategy goals.

For tips and tools on making more sustainable purchasing decisions, check out the new online sustainable purchasing guide. Through a collaborative effort between UBC Financial Operations and Sustainability & Engineering, this redeveloped guide features tips for 14 commodity areas and an ecolabel glossary to help you purchase sustainable goods and services.
