New sanctions imposed in response to the unpredictable situation in Ukraine

Friday, February 25, 2022

Following the development in Ukraine, Canada is imposing new sanctions or expanding existing sanctions in response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, effective immediately.

Update: As of February 28, 2022, UBC will not be accepting transactions from and to sanctioned Russian and Belarusian banks until further notice. For a complete list of sanctioned countries, visit the UBC Finance website

The restrictions covered not only individuals but also entities which include key financial institutions in Russia and Ukraine. Some financial institutions in Canada have already determined to suspend all transactions from and to Russia and Ukraine until further notice. As a result, any UBC payment from/to these regions is expected to be significantly impacted at the moment.
