Pre-approved Suppliers Now Available for Reusable, Non-Medical Masks
To support the UBC community in limiting the spread of COVID-19, the university has required students, faculty, staff, and visitors to wear triple-layer non-medical masks when indoors on campus.
In order to facilitate the sourcing and purchasing of masks at UBC, the Financial Operations team — in partnership with UBC’s Safety & Risk Services department — has secured non-exclusive contracts and fixed pricing with three qualified suppliers on an as-and-when needed basis (Kahunaverse, Compusult, and Logistik Unicorp). These contracts are available for any faculties and departments who wish to order directly from a supplier, and the masks produced by these suppliers meet the following requirements:
- They meet the BCCDC recommendations for non-medical masks, as published October 23, 2020.
- Samples have been tested for compliance and comfort by UBC’s Safety & Risk Services team.
- Masks have a flexible or adjustable ear loop and at least three layers.
- Masks are machine-washable and breathable.
The full list of key features, as well full supplier details and a table comparing suppliers and their pricing, is now available on the Reusable Face Masks page in the List of Suppliers.
Please note that orders made to these suppliers directly from faculties and departments would be above and beyond the supply of centrally-funded masks that were allocated to UBC’s units. The final distribution of these centrally-supplied masks is currently in progress.
More information on non-medical mask usage is available on the Safety & Risk Services website.
