Karamjeet Heer Appointed as UBC’s New Comptroller

UBC’s Vice-President, Finance & Operations portfolio is pleased to welcome Karamjeet Heer as the university's new Comptroller, effective July 2, 2019.

Karamjeet is an experienced senior financial leader with a progressive career in both public practice and the public sector. She joins UBC from Providence Health Care, where she served as the Executive Director, Finance, and she brings deep expertise from over 18 years working across various industries, including healthcare, transportation, and retail.

UBC’s Comptroller’s Office will benefit from Karamjeet’s proven track record of engaging stakeholders in close partnership to deliver high-quality services and exceptional results, enhance business processes and controls, and develop meaningful financial reporting.

Peter Smailes, Vice-President, Finance & Operations, would like to thank Stuart Mackenzie for steadfastly leading the Comptroller’s portfolio for the previous seven months, in addition to supporting the university’s Integrated Renewal Program.
