Indigenous Suppliers

Increasing opportunities for Indigenous businesses and improving inclusion of Indigenous suppliers cultivates a richer, more inclusive marketplace fostering proactive engagement with the Indigenous business community

The Indigenous Business Directory of UBC was developed in response to community feedback requesting support in locating and identifying Indigenous businesses to consider when making purchasing decisions. The directory is a centralized resource to empower university faculty and staff to locate Indigenous businesses.

The curated list of vendors are based on lists published in the Indigenous Services Canada Indigenous Business Directory, BC Indigenous Business Listings, and certifying organizations such as Canadian Council for Indigenous Businesses (CCIB) and Advanced Business Match. UBC continues to build on connections with the Indigenous community and hold gratitude for the engagement, feedback and guidance throughout this process.

Joining the directory

Suppliers who identify as majority-owned/controlled (51% or more) by Indigenous people can request to be included in the directory or update their existing entry. UBC staff may also submit a supplier’s information on their behalf, if preferred by the supplier. Please note that being indicated as “Indigenous” on UBC’s supplier setup form does not ensure inclusion in the directory, or vice versa, as we require explicit permission from the supplier and additional information to create an entry in the directory. Consent is key as we strive to foster respectful relationships with Indigenous suppliers.

To opt out of the directory, please email procurement.programs@ubc.ca.
