Sustainable Procurement
Since 1997, when UBC became the first Canadian university to adopt a sustainable development policy, UBC has worked to integrate economic and environmental sustainability into university culture
We believe embracing sustainable purchasing in our everyday lives will advance sustainable development, and the benefits will extend beyond UBC and the local community.
Financial Operations applies sustainability vision and goals to all UBC business decisions affecting the supply of goods and services for operational needs and related transactions. Suppliers responding to a UBC request for proposal (RFP) must demonstrate their organization’s commitment to sustainability and circular economy practices. Suppliers who best demonstrate their ability to help UBC achieve each of the sustainability goals and contribute to circular economy principles, in addition to their own leadership in sustainability, will increase their chances of a higher overall rating on the sustainability portion of their evaluation during the tender process.
Please review UBC’s 20-Year Sustainability Strategy and Sustainability Action Plans for more information on our sustainability priorities.
