Launching now! Explore the new UBC Finance website and portal built from your feedback
The new UBC Finance website (finance.ubc.ca) and UBC Finance Portal is a critical step in better serving the campus community. Over 20% of survey respondents reported difficulty finding information on the old UBC Finance website. Designed with input from users and stakeholders, the relaunch addresses the diverse needs of UBC’s finance community including simplifying information, streamlining navigation and improving wayfinding. These new sites offer:
- Enhanced security: Financial information requires the highest levels of protection. The portal uses secure authentication methods, such as CWL login and multi-factor authentication (MFA), to ensure only authorized users can access sensitive data.
- Compliance to the latest accessibility standards: These sites provide clearer, more accessible information about UBC’s financial processes and updates, incorporating the latest Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) standards to ensure an inclusive experience for all users
- Tailored content and access based on high-level audiences: The new structure makes it easier to navigate, with a dedicated external site for public-facing information and a secure Finance Portal for internal resources, tailoring information for UBC’s diverse audiences.
- Alignment with future IT roadmap: Moving to a secure and flexible platform positions us to adapt to UBC’s roadmap of introducing a suite of Microsoft 365 apps into our technology environment
This project supports the VPFO Strategic Plan, Goal 2.2.3. Transform our digital systems and channels into a cohesive and streamlined set of tools to facilitate university operations and as a part of the larger VPFO Digital Transformation strategy, we’re updating our UBC finance website and changing where financial information and processes are shared. This is the first step in our digital transformation and we’re expanding our toolset to better meet the needs of our community.
