Changes coming to UBC’s finance website

In January, we’ll be transitioning the UBC finance website (finance.ubc.ca) into two platforms:

1. An external-facing finance website which will continue to reside on finance.ubc.ca. This website will focus on external-facing information such as supplier information, UBC’s budget, and how to pay your services levy. The key audience for the website will be the general public, suppliers, property owners, media, etc.
2. A new internal-facing UBC Finance Portal built on SharePoint for UBC staff and faculty. The new portal will require VPN and CWL to log in, improving information security, and will serve as a central repository for all relevant internal information and files, making it easier for you to find what you need.

We’ve heard that users are confused about which content applies to them and have difficulty navigating a content-heavy website. Building two audience-specific platforms will create a more cohesive user experience for all and will better serve information to the intended audiences. This transition also aligns with the broader VPFO digital transformation strategy, as we build a streamlined digital ecosystem. More details will be shared closer to the launch date.
