CBSA CARM and its impact to importing goods

The Canadian Border Services Agency (CBSA) Assessment and Revenue Management (CARM) project will change how import duties and taxes will be collected starting October 21, 2024, and will affect air, ground, and sea shipments of both high and low dollar items.
Aside from temporary clearance delays around the time of CBSA’s cutover on October 21, no other impact is expected and no additional action will need to be taken by the community. Worktag charge process and ledger entries will stay the same.
UBC Finance is currently working with CBSA and UBC’s customs broker, Thompson Ahern, to ensure a continued positive community experience on importing goods.
