We are experiencing technical difficulties and the online portal may not timely reflect the accurate balance. Please check back in November 2024 for further updates. |
The UBC services levy is used to run the community centres, athletic and cultural facilities, and to maintain public spaces and infrastructure within UBC neighbourhoods.
The Services Levy Notices are mailed out in mid-June annually. After the due date interest will be charged at the Royal Bank Prime Rate plus 6% per annum. The Services Levy issued in 2024 will be due on August 9, 2024.
Access your Account Balance Online
Access your account balance online to obtain a current balance of what is owed to the university, as of the prior day. Please use the Access Code plus your property Roll # or address to access the portal. The portal will display the balance outstanding at January 1, any current year charges including interest, and current year payments made. This link should also be used to provide UBC with a primary email address for communications concerning the Services Levy.
Please note that the drop box services at the Wesbrook Community Centre have been suspended indefinitely. You can refer to the Paying your Services Levy page for payment options.
Please contact Treasury Accounting at levy@finance.ubc.ca or 604-822-3596 (voice message only) with any questions.
What is the Services Levy?
The services levy is similar to the municipal portion of property taxes for residential properties on UBC’s campus, used for delivering community services such as landscaping, infrastructure maintenance, and community center operations and programming. In addition to the Services Levy, property owners on UBC’s campus also pay rural property tax to the Province of British Columbia because UBC is an unincorporated area, along with taxes for services like the Vancouver School Board and TransLink.
The Services Levy and these other taxes added together are equal to the City of Vancouver property tax rate. This formula is set out in leases between UBC and campus property owners. This means UBC and the University Neighbourhoods Association do not control or set the Services Levy or rural property tax rate, and property owners will always pay the same amount as a similarly assessed property in the City of Vancouver.
- You receive two invoices—the Rural Tax invoice from the province and the Services levy invoice from UBC—but are not paying taxes twice.
- Please do not send your payment of the Rural Property Tax to UBC. Call the Rural Property Tax office at 1-250-387-0555 or toll free in Vancouver at 604-660-2421 or email at RuralTax@gov.bc.ca for its payment information.
