Philippa Horton Joins Financial Operations as Associate Director, Procurement Partnerships

Thursday, May 07, 2020

UBC is pleased to welcome Philippa Horton as the new Associate Director of Procurement Partnerships in Financial Operations.

In this new role Philippa will be responsible for overseeing the university’s team of Procurement Partners, and working with faculty and administrative units to ensure they are receiving a high level of procurement, sourcing, and payment support. She will play a strategic role in identifying opportunities to leverage UBC’s buying power — in partnership with the Strategic Sourcing and Procurement Services teams — to enhance procurement processes and service delivery across the organization.

Philippa is a Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS) procurement professional, and brings with her extensive experience in strategic procurement, service transformation, process improvement, and relationship management from the public sector as well as supply chain transformation consulting. Philippa joins UBC from Destination Canada, the Canadian Tourism Commission, where she led global procurement operations in her role as Procurement Manager. During her time at Destination Canada, Philippa identified and delivered efficiencies within the procure-to-pay process, with a focus on automation, technology and training.

On a personal note, Philippa is an avid hiker and skier — if she’s not on campus, she’s probably sea kayaking or exploring the local mountains.
