Improving UBC's Vendor Information

Friday, February 08, 2019

UBC works with thousands of vendors in the day-to-day operations of the university, ranging from clothing companies that produce uniforms for our student athletes, to telecommunications outlets that support our phone systems, to suppliers of industrial gasses that are used in lab research.

To facilitate the efficient payment of UBC’s vendors for their goods and services it is important that the institution has accurate and up-to-date information about each and every vendor. To this end, the Financial Systems team in Financial Operations is undertaking a Vendor Data Cleanup initiative. The project involves reviewing our existing set of vendor data to identify missing fields (email addresses, phone numbers, etc.), connecting with our vendor partners to confirm contact details, and enabling them to register with our Electronic Funds Transfer payment program.

To accomplish this improvement in our data set we'll be reaching out to suppliers via email and telephone in the coming months, and seeking their support in ensuring we have the most up-to-date vendor information.

The Vendor Data Cleanup project will improve UBC’s ability to effectively do business with our vendors, and help set up the institution for a positive transition to Workday.  If you work at UBC and have any questions relating to the project, you are welcome to connect with Lisa Rockford, Senior Manager of Financial Systems, at lisa.rockford@ubc.ca.
