Carolyn Rhee-Thompson joins UBC as Finance Director, VPFO/VPHR

We are pleased to welcome Carolyn Rhee-Thompson as UBC’s new Finance Director, VPFO/VPHR reporting to Assistant Comptroller Matt Boydston effective September 7.

Carolyn is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) with over 10 years of financial leadership experience supporting a broad group of internal clients. She joins us from WorkSafeBC, where she led financial support for a large and diverse portfolio.  With her team of professional accountants, Carolyn facilitated key divisional reporting and processes to support informed decision making, led process improvement initiatives and participated on multi-functional, cross-divisional teams.

As Finance Director, VPFO/VPHR, Carolyn will bring financial leadership and strategic expertise to the portfolio. Working closely with Matt and leading the Finance team, Carolyn will create, execute and continuously improve practices and processes to deliver an excellent experience for stakeholders at UBC, while providing reporting, budget/forecast preparation and value added analysis.

Carolyn is a graduate of McGill University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature & Communications. She holds CPA, Certified Management Accountant (CMA) and Facilities Management Professional (FMP) designations as well as certifications in Risk Management, Workplace Mental Health Leadership, and more. For the past four years, she served as the Chairperson for Richmond Christian School Society.
